So glad there was a turn around! So happy! Sounded like he decided that he really wanted to live and not have that funeral. What a journey for you all. I'm glad there is light at the end of this tunnel.
That is the most wondeful video! He is so beautiful. I started crying just tears of joy just watching it so I can't even begin to imagine what you're feeling. I had to go in to the office today so I was telling my co workers about him waking up. They were all cheering for him and very happy for all of you.
Jim and Christine, You have a beautiful little boy. Our prayers are with Ellis and his family everyday. YOU GO ELLIS. YOU ARE DOING GREAT. He will be home soon, healthy and happy. Keep the prayers and positive thoughts with you at all times. Dave & Judy Tomasovic
Ellis was born on August 27th, 2009 at 4:23am, weighed 7.2 lbs and was 21 inches. Labor was short; he was born 6 hours after the first contraction. My pregnancy and his birth were uncomplicated except for the presence of meconium during delivery, which he inhaled. James and I were able to hold him for a couple minutes each and then Ellis was taken away for a chest x-ray...and life support. We have been unable to hold him since.
his diagnosis
Ellis was diagnosed with meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS) and rushed to Saint Louis Children's Hospital 14 hours after his birth. Because Ellis is not recovering as quickly as most newborns with MAS do, a lung biopsy and blood tests were performed - these ruled out some rare disorders. At this time, his doctors believe that it is just a severe reaction to the meconium which has contributed to Ellis’ slow recovery, but they admit they are not 100% sure and continue to look for other causes, such as Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn (PPHN).
